The multifunctional GPSMAP 8424 display includes a 24-inch full HD touchscreen. The anti-glare display offers automatic brightness adjustment for use in low light or at night. The new attractive design provides a powerful dashboard for managing all network devices. The LCD display with In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology—a first in this class of devices—provides accurate and rich colors from any viewing angle. In addition, the device includes a USB output for use as a touchscreen for Windows® and Mac® operating systems. Multiple displays can be docked on the control panel using flush mounting or flat mounting. Accessing the information you need is just a button press away.
The GPSMAP 8424 integrates various sonar technologies, as well as autopilot, applications, sensor readings, and multimedia equipment. User data can be automatically synchronized for all 8400/8600 series chartplotters connected to the network and installed at different helm stations. All necessary information will be displayed on a single screen. The fully digital switching system uses CZone technology. This means that even when you are far from the dock, you can supply power to the entire vessel, turn on pumps and indicator lights (including underwater ones). Almost all controls will be at your fingertips: on the instrument panel, on a programmed key fob controller, or in an app installed on a tablet computer (when using Mastervolt CZone).

Enjoy faster map rendering and improved video processing. The device allows you to add images from up to 4 IP cameras and instant support for the Garmin Helm™ app. The increased processor efficiency will improve the performance of additional equipment (radar, echo sounder, multimedia devices, etc.), ensuring clear interaction between the components of the onboard network.

For ease of navigation, the GPSMAP 8424 includes presets for sonar, radar, cameras, multimedia equipment, and digital switches that can operate independently or as part of SmartMode. With SmartMode, you can quickly change all the screens on the instrument panel to a pre-set mode (e.g., fishing mode, docking mode, night mode, etc.). With the push of a single button, all the screens on the control panel change modes simultaneously, so you don't have to manually switch each monitor individually when changing modes. Customizable configurations, data types, and indicators allow you to arrange information according to your personal preferences.
Full network compatibility allows you to add additional equipment on board your vessel. The GPSMAP 8424 supports radars, autopilots, indicators, screens, FUSION-Link™ multimedia systems, sensors, remote echo sounder modules, digital switches, weather receivers, thermal imaging cameras, GRID™ remote devices, and more. In addition, the device is compatible with a FLIR camera (forward-looking thermal imaging camera) and supports SiriusXM.
The professional GSD™ 26 CHIRP fishfinder, GSD 24 fishfinder, GCV™ 10, GCV™ 20 or GSD 25 ClearVü and SideVü scanning fishfinders, as well as the Garmin Panoptix™ fishfinder. You can view images from different fishfinders on a single monitor or on multiple screens in multi-display systems.

You can add the Garmin marine radar of your choice to your system, including powerful xHD2 open-type radars, GMR Fantom™ open-type radars with MotionScope™ technology, or xHD closed-type radars that combine ease of use with the advanced features of open-type radars.

The GPSMAP 8424 allows you to share radar data, additional maps, and user data (waypoints, routes, and tracks) with other compatible GPSMAP devices. In addition, you can exchange images with Garmin VIRB® action cameras, GC™ 10 marine cameras, and FLIR cameras. User data entered into one chartplotter is automatically synchronized with the other chartplotters in the network.
A fast, highly sensitive 10 Hz GPS receiver updates your location and heading 10 times per second for smooth on-screen movement. You can mark up to 5,000 precise waypoints and then use them to navigate.
The device supports features for sailors such as laylines, enhanced wind rose, ground direction and course lines, true wind data fields, and a tide/current/time regulator. Functions for sailing races include pre-start instructions, a synchronized race timer, a virtual start line, time to start, and layline data fields. Indicators allow you to read important information at a glance – true and apparent wind angle, drift, true and apparent wind speed, horizontal or vertical graphs, and a data panel with customizable data fields.

Quickdraw Contours is a free, easy-to-use app that comes preloaded on your device. It instantly creates your own personalized HD fishing maps with 30 cm contour lines right on your screen. You can customize the maps to your liking. These maps are yours to keep—keep them for yourself or share them with members of the Quickdraw Community on Garmin Connect. No special surveying knowledge is required. You just fish, and the program creates the maps. There's no waiting or sending files like with other mapping programs — the results appear on your screen instantly. You can use the program with any Garmin Panoptix transducer, HD-ID™ echo sounder, CHIRP, Garmin ClearVü transducer, or NMEA 2000®-compatible depth sensor. If you have more than one fishfinder on your boat, Quickdraw Contours automatically selects the best data source.

By adding a Garmin Card Reader with convenient remote mounting and single access to 2 SD™ card slots to your system, you can use optional lake maps with maximum resolution LakeVü HD Ultra, as well as BlueChart g2 HD or BlueChart® g2 Vision® HD marine maps. When using these cards, you'll get access to the patented Auto Guidance 3.0 feature and more. For additional access points, you can add multiple memory card readers to your system. Thanks to the waterproof magnetic door, these accessories can be installed vertically or horizontally (sold separately).

This device allows you to control all compatible FUSION-Link audio systems directly from your chartplotter.
The GPSMAP 8424 offers convenient connectivity to peripheral devices via built-in Wi-Fi®, ANT® technology, 4 wired Ethernet ports, as well as NMEA 2000, HDMI and USB ports for complete network compatibility.
Built-in Wi-Fi provides access to the free ActiveCaptain app, so you can control your marine system from virtually anywhere. The app creates a simple yet powerful connection between your compatible mobile device and your Garmin chartplotter, maps and marine community. No matter where you are, you can get unlimited access to your cartography, purchase new maps and connect to the Garmin Quickdraw™ Contours community. With smart alerts on your chartplotter screen, you can always stay connected. Plus, you can plan your next trip or fishing trip from shore — the ActiveCaptain app automatically syncs data with your chartplotter. The app will also notify you when new software updates are available and decide when to download them to your device.
Set up to 10 different depth ranges, each with its own color. This makes it easier to determine the depth of your target at a glance.

For your convenience, the entire autopilot launch procedure can be performed from the chartplotter screen.
Garmin provides support for select Axis and FLIR camera models. These cameras can be used for surveillance and security on vessels of all sizes. You can control pinch-to-zoom and tilt/pan camera settings directly from the plotter screen and view video on multiple screens or on a single screen. With the Axis encoder, you can convert analog camera data (such as Garmin GC 10) into IP video.
This chartplotter supports wireless connectivity to Garmin VIRB® X and XE action cameras, so you can record all your adventures while out on the water. With a simple software update, you can control recording, take photos, and stream video from your VIRB X/XE action camera to your GPSMAP^® 7400/7600 series or Glass Helm 8000/8400/8600 chartplotter. In fact, you can stream video from up to 4 VIRB X/XE action cameras and view the footage on a compatible marine chartplotter. Plus, you can view previously recorded images and videos on the chartplotter display using thumbnail images for easy selection. Control the camera from the chartplotter with features such as playback, pause, search, and repeat. An automatic slide show mode and the ability to delete unwanted VIRB images and videos are also provided. Each VIRB camera can be assigned a name for easy identification. When controlling VIRB cameras, you can change the camera settings, including aspect ratio, video resolution, frame rate, photo size, field of view, and more, directly from your marine chartplotter. Transfer vessel information from your chartplotter to your VIRB X/XE camera via NMEA 2000 to overlay G-Metrix™ data on your video using the VIRB Edit or VIRB mobile app. Some data requires additional accessories.
